How to Solve Mold Issues in Zamac Die Casting Molds?

2022-04-14 | Company News

As a Chinese perfume cap manufacturer, let me share with you. Zamac die casting is a very important component, widely seen in the market, especially in the mechanical industry.   With the development of our

country’s industry, the market for Zamac die castings has gradually grown, playing a significant role in industries like shipbuilding, automotive, and other mechanical sectors.

Zinc alloy die castings may also mold.   Why?

The environment and temperature/humidity for aluminum alloy die-cast products are suitable for mold growth. The surface of aluminum alloy die-cast products contains materials that react with moisture in the

air to form corrosion, creating an environment suitable for molds.

Due to the corrosion reaction, alkaline compounds are deposited on the surface of aluminum die-castings. Subsequent hydrolysis, suitable temperature, and humidity lead to rapid mold growth.

The surface of aluminum alloy die-cast products contains grease, plant fibers, and other soil suitable for mold growth.   Once humidity and temperature are appropriate, mold growth accelerates.

The aging effect of zamac.   The solubility of the alloy decreases with decreasing temperature, as the solidification speed of zamac molds is fast.   When cooled to room temperature, the solid solution in the alloy is

greatly saturated.

However, after a period of time, with the passage of time, the phenomenon of supersaturation gradually releases,

resulting in slight changes in the size and shape of the alloy die castings.

When harmful impurity elements such as lead, cadmium, and tin in the alloy exceed the standard, the alloy castings will increase in volume and decrease in mechanical properties after aging, and cracks or even

fractures may occur after long-term use.   The alloy castings will age due to intergranular corrosion.   Lead, tin, and other elements, cadmium have very low solubility in zinc alloy, forming cathodes at grain

boundaries.   The solid solution of aluminum will become an anode.   There is water vapor in the air.   Under this condition, water vapor acts as an electrolyte and point solution to promote intergranular reaction corrosion.

Zinc alloy die castings should not be used in high and low-temperature environments, as their tensile strength will

decrease at high temperatures, and their performance will also be affected at low temperatures.
